We are growing and now seeking high calibre individuals to join our Professional Indemnity/Financial Lines ("Profin") and Liability/Casualty (injury and Property Liability) claims teams. The specific roles available include:

• Technical Specialist (permanent) and Technical Coach (6 month role with the possibility of being extended or made permanent)– these roles are generally very experienced, technically robust roles focussing on whole of team or whole of portfolio outcomes and are predominantly in our Profin and Casualty teams. You will be the subject matter expert who guides and coaches other claims professionals to ensure timely and appropriate claims decisions and strategy.
• Senior Claims Officer and Claims Officer positions – these roles are responsible for direct management of their own portfolio of claims, usually with the support of the roles above.

About the Roles:

As part of our Commercial Claims business, you'll be instrumental in enabling exceptional claim outcomes through great customer outcomes, sound commercial decision making, operational insights, technical support, and process excellence. You will lead, support or manage high-value, complex claims within Profin and Liability. With your expertise, you will work closely with claims officers, specialists, key stakeholders and our internal and external legal teams, fostering a collaborative environment that drives continuous improvement and high-quality claim resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Specialist and Tech Coach: Lead and coach a team of claims professionals, ensuring effective claims management and mentoring junior team members including training and mentoring. You will be responsible for overseeing operational processes and leading process improvements to optimize performance. Delegated claims authority of up to $5m.
• Senior Claims Officer: Manage a portfolio of large and complex claims and drive strategies for timely resolution. Provide expert technical advice and collaborate with internal teams, legal counsel, and stakeholders to manage risks and minimise costs. Delegated claims authority of $2m.
• Claims Officer: Take charge of end-to-end claims management, handling complex matters with expertise, and ensuring compliance with all regulations and internal governance frameworks. Delegated claims authority of up to $500k.

Key Accountabilities:

• Lead and deliver on claims strategies and resolution tactics for high-value and complex claims.
• Design and implement continuous improvement initiatives that drive operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and high customer satisfaction.
• Support the development of claims processes and internal controls.
• Build relationships with key stakeholders and manage expectations across internal and external teams.
• Provide technical expertise in claims decision-making and mentor less experienced team members.
• Promote and lead change, driving cultural transformation through digital advancements and innovative ways of working.

Skills & Experience:

• For Technical Specialists: A minimum of 5 years' experience in complex claims management within Profin, Property Liability and/or Injury claims, with experience in coaching and people development. Insurance law firm associate/senior associate level experience is highly desirable.
• For Senior Claims Officers and Coaches: Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience managing complex claims, including litigation and management of legal panel. Insurance law firm associate/senior associate level experience is highly desirable.
• For Claims Officers: Experience in managing claims in one of the product disciplines outlined above, with a strong focus on delivering customer-centric results and compliance. Legal study or understanding of the various legal jurisdictions and processes around Australia would be advantageous.
• Strong communication skills, the ability to engage stakeholders, and a consultative approach to decision-making.

Expertise in Commercial Claims processes, including product knowledge, underwriting practices, and claims management across multiple disciplines (e.g., Corporate, Specialty) and qualifications in law, business, finance, or insurance (e.g., ANZIIF, Diploma in Financial Services) are desirable.

• Proven experience in stakeholder management, including clients, brokers, law firms, and third-party service providers.
• A customer-focused mindset with an ability to exceed expectations while managing costs.
• Analytical thinking with attention to detail in claims strategy and resolution.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, while promoting a collaborative team culture.
