    Job Description

    Join TAL's Litigation and External Dispute Resolution team as Corporate Counsel. Reporting to a Senior Corporate Counsel & Team Leader, you will be responsible for supporting TAL's Group Life & Retirement business, managing all claims litigation, external dispute resolution, and legal advice for Claims and Underwriting.

    This is a permanent role, working flexibly from our Sydney office.

    In this role you will:

    • Manage litigated matters through external lawyers
    • Manage external disputes lodged with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) and other external complaints bodies
    • Provide advice and support primarily to the claims and underwriting teams and other business units, as required
    • Provide training to the claims and underwriting teams
    • Provide advice and support to risk and compliance in relation to the Life Insurance Code of Practice
    • Provide advice and support to the Internal Dispute Resolution team
    • Provide support to other legal teams in reviewing product documentation and other commercial documents
    Qualifications
    • Relevant tertiary education
    • Admitted to practise law in Australia, with a minimum 3 years post qualification experience
    • Experience in financial services industry, ideally within life insurance or superannuation
    • Collaborative and a team player
    • Strong communication skills
    • Excellent time management skills
