    Description

    This role is with a large line agency. You will join the division that is responsible for strengthening the department's evidence-based approach and enhancing their ability to understand and analyse data collected of the complex and data rich system they oversee.

    You will be joining the data science team that provides internal data science capability for the agency.

    The Opportunity

    This is a short term initial contract (with a 12 extension option) for multiple data professionals to join one of the leading data science teams in the APS (formally recognised by the APS Data Profession for the quality of the work they do)

    This team develops and applys innovative data analytics techniques to facilitate data-driven policy and program development and evaluation.

    The team uses Bitbucket for their version control.

    The Role

    This opportunity is for multiple R- specialists which can include data analysts, data scientists andor data engineers to come in and provide their expertise on a large technical project which includes timeseries forecasting.

    There is a broad remit of work to be completed across:

    • Data Analysis - debug, upgrade and develop R, R Shiny data products
    • Data Engineering - data pipelines, data wrangling
    • Data Science - develop statistical models (including time series forecasting)
    The Ideal Person
    • Advanced skills in R which can include (modelling, pipelines, Shiny Dashboards, wrangling)
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
    • Desire and skillset to work with some of the leading data professionals in the APS
    Australian Citizenship is mandatory with a Baseline security or above clearance highly desirable.

    Salary / Rate

    Hourly rates aligning to market value depending on technical skillset.
