    At Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Chief Engineer to join our team of dedicated individuals within our Engineering Department.

    The Hotel

    Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns is a luxury five-star hotel located beside Marlin Marina and Trinity Inlet in the heart of Cairns. With 255 guest rooms, 19 function venues and extensive food-and-beverage facilities, the property is part of a leading international company with more than 100 hotels and resorts worldwide.

    The Role

    As our Assistant Chief Engineer, you will be dedicated in ensuring preventive maintenance schedules, engineering maintenance requests and new work orders are performed and correctly recorded and to provide a monthly work plan to the Chief Engineer for approval. Further, your fundamental responsibilities will be:

    • The Coordination of the preventive maintenance schedule, engineering maintenance requests and new work orders.
    • Assisting with the supervision and leadership of the engineering team
    • The inspection of plants, service outlets, and etc
    • Coordinates and assists management of the hotel with internal campaign and activities of the energy conservation programme.
    • Monitoring all E&M plant of the hotel during the shift period
    • To perform with the assistance of personnel from other division or Departments, firefighting services.
    • To become a FEAT team leader when the situation arises.
    • To perform any other job assignments delegated by the Chief Engineer

    About you:

    To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:

    • Proven experience in an Assistant Chief Engineer role with no less than 10 years within medium/large, hotel/building maintenance
    • A Trade Certification in Civil/Mechanical/or Electrical Engineering
    • Possess the knowledge & understanding of the relevant rules & regulations pertaining to their discipline.
    • Excellent administrative skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
    • Exceptional presentation and interpersonal abilities.
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work shifts & long hours.
    • Be competent in training others for knowledge prescribed in the multi skilled programme.
