    About the role

    Role Location: Melbourne
    Role Type: Permanent, full time
    Role details: Multiple roles available and can be a 4.1 or 4.2 depending on knowledge, skills and experience.

    This role is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of strategic sourcing initiatives within their category and vendor segment. They will initiate the development and execution of sourcing strategies in line with the category plan to drive commercial value for the business over both short- and medium-term horizons while also managing risks associated with their category.

    What will your day look like

    This role is accountable for:

  • Understand the nature of the supply base (national/regional/global) and the competitive forces of the supply market
  • Fulfil the business needs in line with category strategy, through conducting a rigorous approach to procuring goods and service ensuring the supply decision results in the appropriate balance of cost and quality
  • Develop pipeline of opportunities in conjunction with key business stakeholders/Contract Owners based on contract expiry
  • Collaborate with the Category Manager to identify gaps in the category, emerging goods/services within the area, size of price/opportunity and feasibility of goods/services
  • Orchestrate the sourcing process, including determining the sourcing strategy, executing the appropriate due diligence required, conducting market/supplier analysis, price benchmarking and conducting the negotiation process
  • Interact with internal stakeholders, including project, Business, Legal, Risk and Vendors in order to facilitate sourcing outcomes
  • Work collaboratively across Procurement and business stakeholders, Legal, Finance etc. to deliver opportunities related to third party spend
  • Proactive management of portfolio – incl. contract expiry and sourcing pipeline to meet annual and quarterly plans
  • Pursue commercial excellence through continuous improvement to help achieve procurement and business targets and demand savings opportunities
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to become highly trusted category and market expert, trusted with commercial support, negotiations and on-going value identification
  • Senior roles may also have leadership responsibilities for c. 2 direct reports.
  • What will you bring?

  • Experience in Sourcing and negotiations, contracts and commercial engagements
  • Strategic thinker to problem solve within highly complex and ambiguous situations
  • Strong communicator, stakeholder and relationship management
  • Understands risks and appropriate control options
  • Strong commercial acumen with ability to analyze cost vs risk trade-offs, shape deal economics
  • High level of commercial acumen and strong negotiations skills
  • Results orientated
  • Aligning Category and Sourcing/Contracting Strategy to Business Strategies
  • Understanding of broader business context and translating into key priorities for Procurement to support
  • Understanding supply market dynamics, Third Party Risk and Regulatory requirements, external leading practice, market trends relevant to spend areas
  • Understanding of end to end procurement lifecycle management across Strategy, Source to Contract, Supplier Relationship Management through to Req. to Pay]]
