    We have an opportunity for an experienced tax manager to join Commercial & Legal's dynamic, fast-growing Tax Advisory group. Commercial & Legal is an independent accounting and advisory firm located in the Adelaide CBD. Established in 2007, Commercial & Legal focuses on delivering high value commercial and tax advisory services to a diverse client base, ranging from very large private companies through to small family-owned businesses across a wide range of industries, including property development, agriculture, professional services, manufacturing, and retail.

    The Tax Advisory group focuses on delivering high-value transactional tax advice to the firm's extensive base of small, medium and large private businesses. The Tax Advisory group directly supports the success of the firm's clients by developing and delivering high-quality transactional tax advice across a range of areas, including:

    • Mergers and acquisitions;
    • Restructures;
    • International investment structuring; and
    • Succession planning.

    The firm's Tax Advisory group has a strong focus on proactively developing and delivering innovative tax-focused solutions to its clients, in addition to supporting its clients to undertake a varied range of domestic and international M&A transactions.

    As a result of significant growth, the Tax Advisory group has a need for an experienced manager to oversee the development and delivery of the group's high-value tax projects, and to contribute directly to the continued growth of the Tax Advisory practice.

    The role

    Reporting directly to the director of the Tax Advisory group, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of a wide variety of complex and interesting tax advisory projects. Key aspects of the role will include:

    • Building strong, lasting relationships across the full range of the firm's clients;
    • Developing customised solutions which create value for clients;
    • Directing the implementation of complex transactions and restructures;
    • Managing the preparation and delivery of high quality tax advice; and
    • Directing and coaching junior team members.

    The role will also provide significant opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of innovative solutions to the firm's clients, as well as developing your profile within the Adelaide market. Through these initiatives, the role will contribute directly to the ongoing growth and success of the Tax Advisory group.

    About you

    To be successful in this role, you will have at least five years' experience in corporate tax or tax advisory at a Big 4 or large mid-tier firm. You will be CA or CPA qualified, and preferably have completed the Chartered Tax Adviser program or a Masters of Tax. You will have proven experience managing the preparation and delivery of high-value tax advice, including coordinating the delivery of complex projects and developing junior staff. You will be self-motivated, proactive, and passionate about identifying opportunities to deliver value to clients.

    You will have demonstrated income tax expertise in the areas of restructures, rollovers / concessions, taxation of trusts and private businesses, and international tax, and may also have experience in stamp duty and goods and services tax. You will take a commercial approach to the delivery of tax advice to clients and have exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
