Deakin University is seeking a Lecturer in Psychology for a clinical placement education-focused role within the School of Psychology.

Description:

This part-time position is based at our Melbourne campus and involves coordinating placements in the Deakin School of Psychology Clinical Programs. The successful candidate will work with the Director of Clinical Programs and Partnerships to develop relationships with agencies for high-quality professional placement opportunities. They will also contribute to teaching, service, and research in the professional psychology programs.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience. They should be a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possess Area of Practice Endorsement and/or Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisor status. A demonstrated passion for teaching and learning, as well as excellent interpersonal skills, are essential.

The appointee will promote the School and maintain links and partnerships with relevant academic, industry, and professional communities. They may be required to provide supervision to postgraduate professional students on placement, if needed. The Lecturer will also contribute to the review of units and courses and implement refinements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain relationships with agencies for high-quality professional placement opportunities.
2. Participate in developing and nurturing links and partnerships with industry, professional bodies, and the wider community.
3. Contribute to the development of systems for assessment of placements, including evaluating supervisee competency.
4. Teach in the area of professional psychology at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
5. Oversee and fulfill recording of placement data, including completion of internal and external records.

Requirements:

1. PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience.
2. Registered Psychologist (AHPRA).
3. Area of Practice Endorsement *Desirable.
4. Psi chology Board of Australia approved supervisor status * Desirable.
5. Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
6. Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
7. Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues.
