    ELECTRICAL / MECHANICAL ENGINEER – DOMESTIC APPLIANCESOur client is one of Australia's largest importers of Domestic Electrical / Mechanical Appliances, specialising in sourcing and development of small household appliances.

    Growth opportunity exists for an Electrical / Mechanical Engineering Manager to join the team based in South Eastern Suburbs – short stroll to shops, trams and train station.

    As an Electrical / Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the electrical safety of the products based on the relevant and current Australian Standards.

    You will be primarily responsible for supporting the team by assessing new electrical product and providing a written report stating the product improvement strategy.

    This will be ongoing for all new and existing products supplied into major national retailers in Australia and New Zealand.

    DutiesAssess new electrical products including electrical safety, function, structure, and robust design based on the requirements of the Australian StandardsIdentifying electrical and mechanical safety issues and defects, provide recommendations to the supplier on how to fix these issues and following up with supplier's corrective action plans to prevent recurrenceCollecting and verifying technical documents and ensuring all products meet regulatory requirements and industry standards for safety and performanceReview final test reports for certificate applicationsWorking closely with external Electrical Safety Testing labs and local Australian Certification officesMaintaining comprehensive records of safety testing results, complete and accurate compliance folders, and supplier corrective action plan documentationInvestigating customer issues, product failures and suggesting areas of improvementWriting of technical documents including creating product instruction manuals and rating labels as per the Australian Standard Requirements and customer requirementsWriting product assessment reports, writing product return fault reports, etcLiaison between electrical Safety testing labs, manufacturers, certification office, state regulators and customersWhat You Need To Bring To The Table
    Degree or at least an Associate Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical engineering or related electrical appliance manufacturing field.
    Experience in the small domestic electrical appliance field.
    A full understanding of electrical systems, components, schematics, and electrical safety.
    Knowledge of Quality systems ISO 9000, ISO 9001 and ISO 9003.
    Proven experience in small electrical domestic appliance design and manufacturing processes.

    Excellent understanding of the workings of all types of Small Household Appliances used in the Australian and New Zealand market.

    An in-depth understanding of the AS / NZS and part 2 Standards, as well as the Standards and regulatory requirements and registrations for battery chargers and power supplies.

    An in-depth understanding of EMC Standards for Australia and New Zealand.
    Technical knowledge to interpret engineering drawings, product electrical specifications, Electrical schematic diagrams, and electrical test reports results.
    Excellent organisational, written & verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
    Must be proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel.
    Must have problem-solving skills
