Job Description

Great opportunity to join our team in Gladstone as a Coal technician on a casual basis. You will be responsible but not limited to:

• Accurately conducting physical coal testing and analysis of routine samples.
• To ensure accuracy, precision and traceability of prepared samples.
• Receipting, recording, sorting and storing coal samples as required.
• Assist with the preventative maintenance of all preparation and laboratory equipment.
• Plan shift workflow and coordinate pick-ups and analysis.
• Compliance with analytical methods, procedures and SGS Quality Systems.
• Maintain safe working environment

Qualifications

If you have previously worked in semi manual or industrial environments, in a hands-on role, then this work would suit you. SGS will provide you with full training as required and, on the job learning, but as the successful candidate you will also have:

• Coal sampling, preparation and testing experience is desirable, however not mandatory.
• Previous experience in general mineral laboratory environment preferred.
• Good computer skills i.e. Excel beneficial (G6 preferred, but not essential).
• Ability to be a team player with strong communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure.
