    Seeking passionate and driven Registered Nurses to join the dynamic and supportive team on K8W, Tasmanian Neurosurgical Unit.

    The Tasmanian Neurosurgical Unit is a level 6, state - wide tertiary referral centre receiving both elective and emergency Neurosurgery and Neurology patients with a variety of clinical presentations. Registered Nurses on K8W are afforded the opportunity to be exposed to and care for, varying levels of acuity with a total of 24 beds inclusive of 6 Neurosurgical High Dependency beds. There are vast opportunities for career development through the Neurosurgical High Dependency course and access to ongoing professional development. Registered Nurses on K8W are afforded the ability to practice both autonomously and in a close collaborative relationship with the surgical team.

    The role:

    Registered Nurse position that provides the integral role of displaying a high level of Tracheostomy and Neurosurgical clinical knowledge. The successful candidate will be an integral component of the Tracheostomy Team and provide tracheostomy training and support to staff.

    Details of Appointment

    Permanent full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

    • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

    Salary: $103,466 - $109,165 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

    You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

    In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

    • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type
    • Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
    • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Award

    Eligibility:

    Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

    • Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that lead to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom.
    • Current Driver's License

    1. Extensive, relevant psychiatric nursing experience and/or is credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse by the Australian and New Zealand College of Mental Health Nurses Inc. or equivalent.
