    About the Role:

    The Casual Cookery Teacher is required to plan, develop, deliver and assess quality vocational education and training in a range of learning environments within the assigned programs.

    Duties:

    • Work with Program Leaders and Managers to set and achieve teaching objectives.
    • Undertake a range of administrative, coordination and learning activities directly related to the assigned program.
    • Develop, maintain and evaluate student learning programs, projects and associated materials.
    • Develop teaching resources and assessments that meet curriculum and contract requirements and client needs.
    • Participate in classes and programs.
    • Conduct required pre-training assessment reviews and assessment requirements connected to contract delivery for the programs.
    • Provide pre-course advice to students and participate in the student selection, enrolment and induction processes.
    • Use diverse and appropriate adult learning methodologies.
    • Support other teachers in relation to learning needs of students and training needs of employers.

    Skills and Experience Required:

    • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or higher adult teaching/VET qualification.
    • Previous industry experience in multiple food outlets, with kitchen management experience.
    • Knowledge of current culinary trends and advanced culinary techniques, including those used for dietary requirements, butchery and menu/recipe design.
    • Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles, teaching methodologies and a demonstrated high standard of teaching practice.
    • Well-developed teaching skills, including the ability to select and use a wide range of teaching and assessment strategies appropriate to the diverse needs of the student group.
    • Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills, together with excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Excellent use of ICT skills to produce work for learners, to assist with e-learning and to report across a range of programs.
    • Demonstrated capacity to network, explore and develop partnerships to increase student engagement and opportunities during and post studies.
