    This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the office that directly contributes to improving work health and safety outcomes in Queensland and helping to reduce the risk of workers being killed or injured on the job.

    As Director, WHS Board Services, you will assist the Deputy Director-General, Office of Industrial Relations to lead and manage a small team to ensure that the Work Health and Safety Board, and the six Industry Sector Standing Sub-Committees have the support required to perform its functions through the secretariat.

    You will be working closely with the Board's chair to implement the Board's strategy map and assist the Board in providing high-quality advice to the Minister.

    The Director, WHS Board Services will have the following key responsibilities:
    Drive the delivery of priority regulatory strategies and coordinate engagement of the WHS Board as a key stakeholder.

    Facilitate research findings to inform strategic thinking and planning processes, including research and evaluation, to identify ongoing opportunities for improvement and innovation in the delivery of services.

    Work as a member of the WHS Board Secretariat, within the Office of the Deputy Director-General OIR to help shape and drive the strategic direction of the WHS Board.

    Work with the WHS Board Chair to implement the Board's strategy map and assist the Board in providing independent advice to the Minister.

    Foster, manage and maintain positive working relationships with members of the Work Health and Safety Board and Industry Sector Standing Committees and other key stakeholders to achieve objectives and regulatory outcomes.

    Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of the team(s) over which you have responsibility.

    This includes ensuring you and your team members are aware of and observing their responsibilities and obligations including under relevant OIR HSW policies and procedures.

    Actively participate as an effective team member in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, OHS and ethical behaviour.

    A degree/ qualification in a relevant field or public administration is desirable but not required to perform this role.
