    About the Position

    The Parks and Environment Team within the Operations Unit leverages the City's resources to provide landscaping, horticultural as well as irrigation planning and maintenance services across the City to achieve the community standards outlined within our Strategic Community Plan and Corporate Business Plan.

    The Parks Operator - Irrigation role actively manages the day-to-day irrigation operation and maintenance of the City's parklands, landscapes, street trees, public places, horticultural presentations, and boutique precinct gardens and ensures that horticultural assets thrive. The City primarily uses a Rainman irrigation central control system and a vehicle is provided for commuter use. Equally important to a working knowledge of current irrigation and pumping practices, is an ability to operate as part of a team and work safely.

    The Parks Operator - Irrigation supports the City by:

    • Testing, repairing, and troubleshooting irrigation systems.
    • Monitoring pumping systems operation and measuring irrigation system performance.
    • Ensuring that irrigation system repairs are carried out in accordance with the relevant Australian Standards and current best practices.
    • Implementing irrigation schedules based on the City's irrigation water budgets and groundwater allocations.
    • Assisting with the development and implementation of daily and weekly irrigation maintenance schedules associated with City parks, malls, streetscapes, and other landscape areas as required.
