    We offer more than 400 courses, from Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)/Vocational Management) VCE VM) Vocational Education and Training Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS), through to nationally accredited qualifications such as certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, degrees, graduate certificates, graduate diplomas and short courses.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    As a Career Counsellor, you will be accountable for high quality career counselling and career development education to assist Chisholm students to make informed pathway and career decisions.

    This role supports transitional stages that occur in the student journey, from prospective to, enrolled as well as pathway and transition, including preparing students toward employment readiness. The role contributes to improving participation, completion rates and graduate outcomes for students.

    The incumbent is a key and active participant of the Student Support and Engagement team and provides support as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

    Key Accountabilities include:

    • Deliver high quality career counselling services and vocational assessment
    • Provide career advice, options to pathways and industry relevant advice to assist student decision making via multiple channels like drop-in sessions, appointments, class talks, presentations, workshops etc
    • Produce, update and disseminate career resources for students
    • Facilitate group work to students on work readiness skill sets for industry related employment and guidance on pathways and career direction
    • Develop and maintain referenced career based digital content to support student cohort needs including vocational, VCE, VM and Higher Education students
    • Maintain appropriate networks with professional agencies and educational providers to ensure provision of up-to-date information and referral details

    ABOUT YOU

    You will hold a minimum entry level qualification for Professional Career Development Practitioners or hold a related Degree in people related services, or lesser formal qualifications with substantial experience and specialist expertise in career advice, career related training or job placement related services.

    You will also have-

    • Relevant career counselling experience in a vocational or tertiary environment
    • Demonstrated ability to present information and facilitate group work
    • Ability to work effectively with students, staff and stakeholders at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
    • Demonstrated capacity to negotiate and advocate
    • Strong problem solving, collaboration and advice seeking skills
    • Familiarity with regulation and policy relevant to government and education sectors
    • Highly developed communication and analytical skills
