    The Role

    The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability in complex project planning and/or management, leadership under pressure, a history of effective stakeholder engagement, and the skills to operate in a challenging and ever-changing environment. Navy is looking for an organised and enthusiastic individual with well-developed planning, communication, teamwork and leadership skills. The role offers the opportunity to engage widely across Defence, support infrastructure requirements identification, development, delivery and assurance of high profile Navy facilities projects.

    Experience in maritime or land-based facilities and infrastructure planning/project delivery will be beneficial for the role.

    About our Team
    The Navy Logistics Branch includes the Navy Infrastructure directorates and is an integrated Branch comprised of APS, ADF and contractor team members. These teams contribute to infrastructure requirements identification, the development and shepherding of infrastructure projects through the necessary approvals process, they monitor project delivery and provide assurance to Navy's senior leadership on progress milestones and completion. Infrastructure projects are categorised as either new capability projects (e.g. introduction of a new ship) which may require dedicated infrastructure, or sustainment projects which seek to maintain the operational effectiveness of the existing Defence Estate (Defence bases). As the EL1 Infrastructure Projects Manager (Deputy Director), you will head up one of these teams.

    The Navy Infrastructure directorates are also responsible for the strategic planning that ensures Navy has the right facilities and infrastructure in the right locations at the right time to support maritime capabilities. The Branch as a whole has a key role in working across Navy and Defence, in particular, advocating for Navy regarding the delivery of infrastructure and logistics services and facilities development.

    Navy Infrastructure is looking for a talented and driven Infrastructure Projects Manager to join our Canberra team. As the EL1 Infrastructure Projects Manager (Deputy Director) you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Director, leading a small team, delivering outcomes, and building and sustaining relationships;
  • Defining and prioritising Navy's infrastructure requirements, providing coordination and input into project development, and monitoring and assuring their delivery;
  • Developing and reviewing briefs, Ministerial correspondence and representing Navy's interests at relevant meetings.
