The NSW Budget is a major policy making exercise, with decisions that directly flow through to the lives of 8 million resident.To ensure the Budget process runs smoothly and Ministers get to make decisions on evidence-based policy, NSW Treasury has dedicated teams. The Budget Strategy and Coordination team is responsible for Providing advice to the Treasurer and Ministers on the development of the Budget, including key timelines and periods Leading reform projects that improve the way the NSW Government manages public money Liaising with other Treasuries in Australia to ensure NSW remains at the cutting edge of practice Communicating to public sector leaders and finance teams on the budget cycle and the latest fiscal settings Leading the coordination of the Budget itself, working with stakeholders across NSW Treasury and the broader NSW Public sector Managing the delivery of Budget day, including the media lock up. The Outcomes Budgeting OB Team is responsible for Delivering outcomes for citizens and improving transparency, accountability and the effective use of public funds Leading and managing the overall reform agenda for Outcome Budgeting across the Sector Providing strategic advice and analysis to the Secretary of Treasury and the Treasurer on driving the application of Outcome Budgeting Working collaboratively with Treasury teams and Clusters to embed outcomes-based performance monitoring, decision-making and planning Two permanent positions have become available one in each team . They would suit candidates who are passionate about public policy, who enjoy balancing multiple priorities, who are good at nurturing stakeholder groups including in time pressure situations and who enjoy project management. Those with an economic, policy or financial background would particularly enjoy the subject matter. In terms of day-to-day responsibility, we are seeking someone who would enjoy a mix of leading small projects as well as supporting the team on larger tasks. Public sector experience, either in New South Wales or in other jurisdictions, would be valuable whether that is experience in policy development or budget management. Tertiary qualifications are not mandatory although they are welcome.
