North Coast Environmental Services NCES is a specialist Sunshine Coast based ecology firm comprised of a small team of highly trained and experienced ecologists and environmental scientists. We have been providing specialist ecological, bushfire and environmental management consulting services to a wide range of private and public sector clients throughout SEQ and further afield since 2006. The disciplines of Landscape Architecture and Consulting Arboriculture have also recently been added to our services. We are now seeking a new full time Principal Ecologist with a minimum of 10 years experience working in the environmental consulting industry, preferably within SEQ however northern NSW and intrastate applicants would be considered . The position will inherently perform a multifaceted role including leading flora and fauna habitat assessments, conducting bushfire hazard technical assessments and reporting, project management, client liaison and due diligence advice, and tendering. The Principal Ecologist will carry out their team leader duties under the supervision of the Director and will help mentor a small a team of enthusiastic ecologists. The Principal Ecologist is expected to be sufficiently experienced, and subject to appropriate training, capable of managing the business excluding financial operations for short periods of time. To be successful, you will have A positive attitude and happy outlook on life Tertiary qualifications in Ecology Botany or related discipline Prior ecological and or bushfire consulting experience in QLD minimum of 7 years Proven knowledge of and experience with QLD Government ecological assessment methodologies and legislative frameworks Very strong SEQ flora survey species identification skills Strong SEQ fauna habitat survey skills Qualify as a suitably qualified person under the NC Act and EPBC Act to carry out ecological assessments Very high-level report writing skills essential criteria Excellent project management skills Ability to work autonomously and be self-motivated Well-developed analytical, written, and verbal communication skills Bushfire consulting experience would be highly regarded Experience operating AutoCAD and GIS software systems Extensive experience using Microsoft Office word, excel, outlook Current driver s licence and Be physically and mentally fit note this is a mandatory requirement to be able to effectively perform the role .
