About the role

Reporting to the General Manager of Safety, the Training Manager has the primary responsibility for planning, organising, leading and supervising the training department. You will ensure the operational teams both domestically and internationally have the right people with the adequate skills at the right time. This role ensures training activities are aligned to support both current and future business needs and to drive the pursuit of industry leading practice.

Key Accountabilities

  • In consultation with the business unit Operations Managers ensure that core competencies and competency mapping of the workforce is identified and readily available within the business
  • Regularly reviewing and identifying training and development needs and providing operations and project management with recommendations
  • Ensuring that training materials are developed and remain up to date
  • Amend and revise programs as necessary to adapt to the changes that occur in the work environment
  • Use information technology to develop, deliver and store training materials
  • Designing and developing training programs to meet organisational and individual needs in line with strategic business plans
  • Managing the service provision of external training providers to ensure high quality programs are delivered
  • Liaising with external training providers and educational institutions to identify appropriate external training solutions
  • Supervising the work of the training team and training facilities within the required budget
  • Assessing the return on investment (ROI) of any training or development program
  • Provide ongoing auditing, reporting, evaluation, and analysis of training activities
  • Committing to a high performing internal customer focused culture
  • Upholding and representing the business purpose and vision while championing the alignment of the principles
  • Researching contemporary training and development trends and provide recommendations on opportunities for Barminco to provide industry leading practice in training delivery and expertise
  • Developing and reviewing organisational and site role-specific capabilities framework
  • Developing and implementing high quality training programs to meet organisational department and participant needs.
  • Key Requirements

  • Extensive experience in training coordination and management within the Metalliferous Mining Industry
  • Experience in an operational environment is essential
  • Sound working knowledge of the requirements of the AQF levels and Nationally Accredited Training requirements
  • AQF Level Qualification i.e. advanced diploma or associate degree.
