The RoleWorking within Coast Shelters Trauma Responsive Framework you will strive to enhance the lives of young people in our residential accommodation programs.Working with the young people you will help create a home like environment and tailor your support to the individual needs of each young person. Supporting young people to attain their educational goals, undertake extracurricular activities in line with their interests and supporting their connection to community and family.Success in the role will demand an understanding of the causes and impact of homelessness and an empathic approach to those in our community who may find themselves on the outer homeless and disadvantaged.The position provides strengths based case management to build client capacity to assist each client to deal with their trauma-based responses to life in a way that promotes healing, emotional growth and development of positive attitudes and life skillsTo be considered for the position you must be able to address the essential criteria below Tertiary Qualifications diploma level or higherForm and maintain professional, nurturing relationships with children and young people by building trust through visible interest and active engagementMinimum 3 years case management experience Act as an appropriate adult role model, seeking to engage young people in purposeful activities aimed at developing life skills and self-worthAbility to motivate and engage with young peopleAbility to manage challenging behaviour and attitudesExcellent communication with proven written and oral communication skillsIntermediate computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office Please note Our residential youth shelters operate on a 24 7 roster model. Therefore, successful candidates will be required to work a range of shifts including weekends, nights, sleepovers, and public holidays.
