Oncology Pharmacist Full Time 9 month maternity relief contract Private Hospital Pharmacy Macquarie Park BasedMacquarie University Hospital MUH opened its doors in June 2010 as the first university campus-based private hospital in Australia. Set in the expansive grounds of Macquarie University, amid one of the fastest growing areas of Sydney and conveniently placed within walking distance of the Macquarie University underground train station, this 183 bed teaching hospital combines state-of-the-art facilities with world's best clinical practice.The Macquarie University Hospital Pharmacy is currently seeking a motivated Oncology pharmacist. The pharmacy team delivers a high quality service to the day and ward oncology units, is part of the multidisciplinary team and participates in clinical trials.The successful applicant will be a registered Pharmacist and must have a background in Oncology together with a passion for delivering excellent customer service and patient care. Experience in clinical trials is desirable. Furthermore the successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and have strong organisational and communication skills. As the oncology pharmacist, the successful candidate daily responsibilities will include Aseptic compoundingClinical review of oncology protocolsPreparation of daily chemotherapy orders for compounding by a third partyDispensingProviding advice on drug selection to clinicians and patients, and patient counsellingWorking in the dispensary and wardsLiaising with external customers and internal stakeholders to ensure chemotherapy and medicines are provided in a timely mannerProviding patient medication and educationSupporting the trial team with the administration and dispensing of clinical trial medications and associated services All applicants must be competent, professional and committed to providing a high standard of customer care. They will also have excellent communication skills, an ability to prioritise tasks, manage their time and be able to work independently. They will be able to deal with patient needs in a sensitive manner.
