Labourpower Recruitment is currently seeking a Purchasing Officer to join a Plastic Manufacturing company in South Western Sydney.

The Role

The primary objective for this position as a Purchasing Officer is to undertake purchasing, inventory control and associated duties within the organisations policies and procedures

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare purchase orders for goods, materials and services, including arranging approvals
  • Request and assess quotations and other information from suppliers
  • Process goods receipts and verify goods against invoices and purchase Work with vendors on resolving discrepancies
  • Create and maintain accurate procurement documentation and records, including invoices reconciliation and container documentation
  • Effectively communicate with customer service in response to queries which may arise
  • Effectively communicate with vendors to ensure uninterrupted supply of required purchased goods and services
  • Regularly review vendor performance
  • Regularly review inventory levels and develop actions and recommendations to optimise stock holding
  • Regularly communicate with 3PL warehouse providers regarding but not limited to stock control, receivables of the goods, relevant documentation and stock takes
  • Participate in meetings and discussions, collaborate with other business areas as required
  • Support business optimisation projects as required
  • To be successful for this role you will need

  • Min 3 years of relevant experience is required
  • Experience in international purchasing
  • Experience in working with freight forwarders, including container tracking and documentation processing
  • Intermediate level of SAP knowledge, incl experience in maintaining MRP relevant parameters in SAP
  • Experience in inventory control
  • High level of analytic and numeracy skill
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Mandarin speaking and APICS accreditation is advantageous
