Join the MongoDB Storage Team in building WiredTiger, a world-class distributed open source storage engine. The Storage Team provides efficient data storage and scalable parallel access that is leveraged by the higher layers of the MongoDB data platform stack. Experience in the database domain is preferable, but not required Proficient in C or a similar programming language You have a track record in hiring, mentoring and growing strong software engineering teams You are enthusiastic about designing, writing, testing, and debugging maintainable software. You strive for well thought out solutions instead of quick fixes You have excellent technical communication skills, which you use to collaborate with both local and remote colleagues. You are not afraid to admit you don't know something or to ask for help Position Expectations Manage a team of three or more individual contributors, responsible for ensuring their success, aiding their career growth, and facilitating their technical work Lead team culture by example, embrace and adhere to the team norms and the company core values Understand and improve the current functionality of WiredTiger Make coding contributions to projects. Provide feedback on the architecture of the system and the design of new features Ensure that the team is running smoothly by helping to eliminate technical barriers, coordinating with other teams regarding dependencies, and focusing on the overall happiness of the team Contribute to planning for organisational growth, including allocation of engineering resources, future hiring plans, and assignment of projects Work with engineers and support staff to diagnose and remediate customer issues Success Measures In the first month, you will understand the high-level architecture of WiredTiger In three months, you will have learned about the team's roadmap as well as developed relationships with your team and leaders on other teams In six months, your team will be capable of running projects on its own.
