What you'll be doing

This Hospital Drug and Alcohol Consultation and Liaison (HDA-CL) position delivers specialist D&A services to hospitals in the Shoalhaven region.  The role of HDA-CL Clinical Nurse Consultant is to provide advice regarding the management of D&A related issues for referred patients, and liaison to enhance the capacity of generalist health providers to address D&A issues in their routine clinical work. 
The Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 1, provides expert clinical advice to clients, carers and other health care professionals with complex healthcare needs within the Drug and Alcohol Service. The Clinical Nurse Consultant is a clinical expert who, through leadership, facilitates excellence in research based clinical practice, education, research and professional leadership. The Clinical Nurse Consultant models the CORE (Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment) values of the organisation.

Working hours: Thursday, Friday, Monday (13:30 to 22:00) and Saturday & Sunday (07:30 to 15:30)

Selection Criteria:

  1. Registered Nurse with a current licence to practice from the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and current NSW driver’s licence.
  3. Minimum five years full time equivalent post registration experience and in addition who has approved post registration nursingmidwifery qualification in the Drug and Alcohol field.
  5. Proven clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
  7. Demonstrated effective communication and inter-personal skills across a variety of mediums and knowledge of the practice development framework for clinical practice.
  9. Demonstrated involvement in the developmentchange of clinical practice underpinned by evidence based research.
  11. Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning.
  13. Proven skills in clinical teaching, the identification of education needs in the clinical area, and competency in the use of contemporary information systems.
  15. Ability to apply clinical expertise in client-centred consultancy with the ability to work independently.
