About the Position



With the Inland Rail project segments moving into detailed design and execution, our commercial team is working on large and strategic work packages. To support to growing activities in the commercial and project delivery spaces, we have an opportunity for a passionate Contracts Administrator to join our team on a permanent basis. At Inland Rail the Contracts Administrator acts as a business partner to the commercial lead and the project delivery team, providing expert advice on contract management, budget analysis, management of variations and claims received by contractors . This role will be responsible for large civil packages and will be a key contributor to the performance of contracting partners. This is a true expert and influential role in which the incumbent will be required to go on site from time to time. Reporting to the Commercial Lead, your key accountabilities will be and are not limited to :
  • Ensuring appropriate authorisation from the correct delegated authority has been received for all contract forms and transactions;
  • Ensuring update and monitoring the contract system and ensure commercial information remains accurate and confidential;
  • Ensure a high standard of probity and ethical values associated with all aspects of the contract function and ensure the probity of processes within the Commercial and Project Delivery Teams and with process users is adhered to and report on any non-conformance;
  • Ensure contract administration and variations are progressed, recorded and approved in accordance with relevant ARTC policies and procedures and contractual requirements; and,
  • Ensure compliance with ARTC’s Safety Management System (SMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements, responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities.
  • About You To be successful in this role, you will have pre-existing experience in management and administration of contract on infrastructure project, having ideally worked on civil or rail packages in a Design and Construct set up; You will also be able to demonstrate:
  • Tertiary qualifications in fields such as business, commerce, law, engineering or related discipline or relevant experience; 
  • An understanding of contract law with experience in administering construction agreements in a large business environment;
  • Extensive experience in managing contractors and suppliers against performance criteria;
  • A clear understanding of ethical practices and probity within a large organisation;
  • Significant experience with purchasing, contracts or finance systems in a large national company and a good knowledge of the relevant process flows;
  • Demonstrated effective analytical, strategic and planning skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, to work under pressure, demonstrate resilience and respectful behavior in conflict situations, meet deadlines and provide additional support within the team when required; and,
  • Experience using Aconex and CI Financials (Technology One) will be highly regarded.
