The role will be to manage a small team of engineers who are responsible for the reliable operation and availability of the OCS Networks and Infrastructure that for the backbone of the organisations OCS technology.
Key responsibilities will be: Provide 'hands on' technical support to ensure all OCS networking and infrastructure equipment is operational, monitored and maintained to required standards. Supported equipment includes core routers & switches, data centre and WAN switches, firewalls, load balancers and other field based network appliances Co-ordinate a response to any identified network issue or failure promptly, to ensure rapid remediation; Manage network configuration changes ensuring they are co-ordinated and implemented within the required change control procedures; Develop and maintain Technical Maintenance Plan documentation; Supports major project activities, configuring and integrating new and extended OCS functionality;
The position is responsible for providing technical support and technical delivery capabilities that include afterhours planned and unplanned activities.
To be successful for this role you will have: At least five years' experience performing Network management activities in an operational technology or systems engineering environment in a senior capacity; At least 10 + Years Industry and ideally management experience Extensive experience in conducting a variety of systems engineering tasks within a High Availability environment; Demonstrated experience working in and administering medium to large Linux environments; Demonstrated experience in both open-source and commercial software configuration and management; Proven experience in developing high quality technical documentation, work instructions and schedules for ongoing maintenance and operational tasks; Demonstrated experience in system administration of physical and virtual environments for both Linux and Windows Operating Systems; Demonstrated experience working with large network monitoring systems; Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to: articulate clearly, for both technical and business people, what a particular problem is;coordinate the efforts of a number of people, to achieve resolutions to problems; andwork as an effective part of a diverse team; Sound organisational and work management skills, in particular the ability to meet their objectives and produce deliverables within agreed timelines; Sound analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills; and Demonstrated experience in delivering solutions and/or project outcomes to a high quality.
