Provide expert clinical knowledge and clinical care for consumers/persons with a variety of conditions and support the general function of unit through role modelling and application of the principles of contemporary evidence-based consumer/person focused care, education, leadership and portfolio management. In addition, this role will provide support and direction to the Registered Nurse/Midwife and other non-registered nursing personnel in more complex situations. The role co-ordinates Ophthalmology outpatient appointments and elective surgery wait lists, for referrals, under the guidance of the CNC Elective Surgery Coordinator.

Clinical Nurse - Ophthalmology at new specialist public health facility!

Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) is a new greenfield and digital, specialist public health facility which is due to open in . It has been designed to deliver a range of new and expanded healthcare services to meet demand and increase patient access to specialist rehabilitation services, elective surgical and endoscopy procedural services.

STARS is a new -bed facility that couples complex rehabilitation and specialist elective surgical services and procedures in a planned procedure environment to provide patients with greater access to care in clinically recommended timeframes.

We are building a team to deliver exceptional healthcare at STARS for Metro North Hospital and Health Service (MNHHS) – Australia's biggest, best and nicest health service.

Based in Herston, STARS also forms part of the Herston Health Precinct – home to a collaborative community of , staff including clinicians and healthcare professionals, researchers and students.

Your Opportunity

  • Provide teaching to both consumers/persons and their families to facilitate learning and enable them to move towards independence.
  • Support an evidence-based learning environment and participate in learning activities/opportunities for self and others.
  • Participate in the performance and development planning of self.
  • Integrate organisational policies and guidelines with professional standards by maintaining current knowledge and participating in relevant policy review.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous quality improvement and best practice principles to optimise consumer/person centred care and organisational outcomes by undertaking projects and research as required.
