About Vehicle Engineering, Australia Cross functionally lead the product development work from Product Change Initiation to End Gate. Distribute product & project targets to responsible engineers Compile and report product QDCF status in the project dimension. Prepare and produce Project documentation (e.g. project description, PAP/PDP, risk register). Engineering Project cost including internal and external development cost as well as vendor/purchased tooling (in co-operation with purchasing). Support the Product cost calculation (in co-operation with product finance and purchasing). Project time plans (level 2-4, commodity/module/component/function/SW) covering all activities needed to ensure fully verified and validated components, systems and functions (HW/SW). Drive and take part in the definition of product content. Drive and take part in developing the requirement specification (incl.E2E functions) to module level to ensure that the requirements are understood and accepted. Participate in the recommendation and selection of development and production suppliers. Architecture and packaging for area of responsibility. Cross-functionally anchor concepts and technical solutions. Manage Engineering releases and other product documentation (e.g. FRS, FS, technical description and TR). CAD modules and prototypes (HW & SW, components and systems) for virtual and physical builds and test objects. Support complete vehicle deliveries (e.g. packaging, certification, EDB, weight). Together with Complete Vehicle identify and carry out needed verification activities. Ensure Engineering deliveries are Verified & validated (HW & SW, components, systems and functions). Results and Deliveries Vehicle engineering project deliveries achieved on time and budget and according to the QCDF targets of the project. Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills Masters of Science Degree in Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering equivalent 5+ years’ experience in automotive engineering development environment Displays excellent planning, organisational and resource management skills Good knowledge of general engineering development methods and systems, especially for heavy vehicles Ability to work in a global engineering environment but maintain a local perspective to find the best vehicle solutions for the customer Is conversant with local and global regulatory requirements Ability to represent vehicle engineering in project management teams, locally and globally. The Vehicle Engineering organisation in Australia, which is part of the global Vehicle Engineering organisation, consists of a team of dedicated and multi-talented people with the key mission to provide market adapted, customized and niche vehicles to our customers in Australia and New Zealand. We also provide technical expertise to the Australian Production facility and Sales organisation to support the delivery, application and quality of our products in our customer’s business.
Our challenges include satisfying the needs of our customers while meeting the quality requirements, time to market, features and cost targets at a complete vehicle level. We are using specific global Vehicle Engineering processes, organisation and governance to secure short lead time to market and reduced development costs.
We are now seeking a Project Manager (PMe) to lead development activities in our Vehicle Engineering group within GTT Australia.
The main purpose of this position is to lead the Product Development activities for the complete project in the GTT Vehicle Engineering group in Australia.
The position is accountable to deliver a verified and validated product i.e. vehicle architecture, vehicle systems and functions (HW/SW), according to agreed product QDCF targets (Quality, Delivery, Cost, Features). The technical solutions should also be in line with approved cross-functional technology strategies and platform objectives.
With customer focus as a key driver, key challenges in the role will be to propose complete vehicle architecture solutions for proposed projects for decision. Once decided to then lead the engineering activities to deliver the decided technical solutions in an organised, efficient and proactive manner according to commitments. Coordination and utilization of our local and global engineering networks and competences will also be a key challenge for the role.
A Project Manager within Vehicle Engineering is responsible, from project initiation (PCI decision) to project closure (End Gate), for the following main activities and deliveries, in line with agreed product QDCF:
