The opportunity

Reporting to the Production Director, the role of the Trades and Production Capability Manager is accountable and responsible for the leadership, quality and performance of the Thales Garden Island Trade and Production Group.

About the role

Provide leadership to and development of the Trade and Production Leadership Team

Manage, develop and nurture stakeholder relationships across the project and program lifecycles

Working closely with the Above Water Systems Leadership Team to champion a strong safety culture across Above Water Systems and at Garden Island

Development of supervisors to build capability and enhance employee engagement.

Ensuring Trades and Production work practices are in line with the Maritime Enterprise Agreement

Championing Lean within the Trades and Productions Group to drive efficiency improvements in all areas of the trade and production operations

Developing compelling business cases for both capital investment and training courses for employees within the Trades and Production Group

Aligning the capabilities of the Trades and Production Group to the needs of Above Water Systems’ customers

Ensuring full compliance with Thales policies and procedures and the projects management plans and processes as well as legislation

About you

The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive experience working in an operational setting, preferably a heavy industry, and well as extensive leaderships skills that have been honed in production services and materials handling environments. You will be adept at problem solving and implementing solutions within a multidisciplinary team environment and will also possess influential communication skills. Your focus on safety will be paramount and, as such, a background in facilitating work health and safety risk assessments and managing risk processes will be key. Additionally you will be experienced in managing unionised workforces and legislative requirements under the 2016 Building code.

Previous experience in building compelling business cases through sound data analysis, understanding financial models and utilising a LEAN approach will also be key in this role Your experience will be supported by project management qualifications.
