Role Overview

Reporting to the Finance Manager, as the Assistant Financial Accountant, you will be part of a small finance team. In your role, you will be supporting the Senior Financial Accountant in all month end related tasks including weekly and monthly management reporting and month end close activities. On a day-to-day basis, this will include processing journals, preparing balance sheet GL reconciliations and conducting daily bank reconciliations.

As the Assistant Financial Accountant, most of your time will be focused on ensuring completion of reconciliations for the month end reporting process. This will include bank, general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations and reduce the risk for errors. Hence, this role requires a strong attention to detail attitude and an Assistant Financial Accountant who will thrive in an environment where they will be required to continually produce accurate and high quality work.   • Ensures integrity of financial information posted to the General and subsidiary Ledgers by ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation of control and suspense accounts.
  • The general and subsidiary ledgers are accurate at all times.
  • Reviews and reconciles all balance sheet accounts in the General Ledger and process necessary journal entries where errors are detected
  • All balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled monthly.
  • Ensures all bank accounts are reconciled monthly and discrepancies processed promptly.
  • Assist the Financial Accountants with month- end processes.
  • Accuracy of Month-end processes
  • Provide support to the Senior Financial Accountant and Financial Accountants with general day-day activities, ad-hoc project work and year-end processes.
  • Assist in producing annual statutory accounts with leadership from the Senior Financial Accountant and Financial Accountants.
  • Annual accounts are accurate, complete and prepared within strict deadlines.
  • Provision of back-up support when other Finance staff are on leave.
  • Candidate Profile

    You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting with at least 2 years experience as an Assistant Accountant. Ideally you have gained best practice experience having worked in a large or medium organisation focusing on complex and big sets of reconciliations. Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workload to achieve objectives will set you apart for this role. You also have strong experience using excel. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong work ethic that you are extremely proud of.
