The General Manager, Strategy and Design is accountable for driving and implementing Austrade's strategic direction. They lead the Strategy and Design Division which is responsible for the driving Austrade’s change management, communication and collaboration. 

What you'll need to be successful:
Specialist Knowledge
• High level strategic skills, including understanding Austrade's direction and role within government and experience in shaping strategies and policy.
• Extensive experience implementing organisational level strategies and initiatives, driving and implementing business transformation and change, including strategic resource management and planning (both financial and workforce)
• Experience working in a similar senior role in the public or private sector, combined with experience acting as a trusted adviser to the CEO and other Senior Executives.

Leadership and Management
• Champions and role models collaboration across Austrade by realigning priorities and resources to achieve Austrade’s vision.
• Authentic leader with excellent judgement and discretion.
• Proven ability to work effectively as a senior member of a leadership team and contribute to the Austrade's strategic direction, drive change and champion our vision and purpose.

This role will be offered on a three (3) year non-ongoing (specified term) basis with the possibility of becoming ongoing within 12 months.

Duties include:

Lead the development and implementation of Austrade’s strategic direction and drive organisational priorities

Manage relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external

Work closely with Senior Executives across Austrade to deliver effective governance, drive strategic planning and decision making processes, and ensure delivery of shared priorities and organisational objectives

Deliver high level advice, briefing and presentations publicly and to senior decision makers.

Be accountable for Austrade’s strategic project management framework, change function, internal communications, employee experience and organisational capability project.

Lead a strong culture of innovation, agility and continuous improvement, guiding and mentoring people and strategically managing resources

Work closely with Senior Executives across Austrade to ensure delivery of Austrade’s strategic direction.

Deliver client services roadmaps and channel strategy development and implementation.

Be accountable for client and global trends research and monitoring, and the development of strategic response to new opportunities and challenges.

Manage teams accountable for client experience, business analytics and service outcomes/performance monitoring.

Management of the client pipeline, using a data driven approach.

Promote and model service excellence and business practice.

Drive Austrade’s vision and strategic direction setting & be accountable for implementation.

Be accountable for the development and implementation of Austrade’s future operating model.
