  • The Department of Regional NSW was formed in 2020 as a central agency for regional issues. The Department is responsible for building resilient regional economies and communities, strengthening primary industries, managing the use of regional land, overseeing the state’s mineral and mining resources and ensuring government investment in regional NSW is fair and delivers positive outcomes for local communities and businesses.

    Local Land Services (LLS) is an Executive Agency related to the cluster. It provides quality, customer-focused services to landholders and the community across New South Wales. This regionally based organisation brings together a wide range of service and advisory functions including agriculture, biosecurity, natural resource management, land management, biodiversity, emergency services, private native forestry and the Soil Conservation Service.

    About the role:

    We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Land services officer to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for supporting farmers, primary industry groups, community/Landcare groups, and local/regional Indigenous communities to deliver outcomes that contribute to sustainable agriculture. Increasing knowledge, skills, awareness, participation and engagement in natural resource management and the resultant sustainable use of land management practices and improved quality of ecosystems services delivered will be key outcomes.

    This role will involve developing project activities including events (e.g. field days and workshops), demonstration trials, publications (e.g. monthly Landcare newsletter) and general Landcare support (e.g. actively attending and hosting meetings, assistance with the delivery of community grants programs). Through adaptive management and an innovative delivery model, project activities will be informed by community feedback and emerging issues.

    To be the successful applicant for this role you will:

  • Develop projects and effective partnerships with key stakeholders to support long term sustainable agriculture outcomes
  • Collaborate and engage with community groups to deliver outcomes that promote sustainable agriculture
  • Identify opportunities and innovative solutions to current and emerging natural resource management and agricultural productivity issues

    Essential requirements:

    • A degree in agricultural, environmental, natural resource management, biosecurity, and emergency management and/or equivalent level of industry knowledge and experience

    • Current NSW Driver Licence and the ability and willingness to travel
