    We are looking for an Occupational Hygiene Technician to work within the HSE CMX team to provide occupational hygiene services and support to the Bell Bay Aluminium site.

    This hands-on role will give you broad and practical experience, including in many areas of occupational hygiene unique to the aluminum smelting industry.     Reporting to the Specialist Occupational Hygiene, you will work a day roster (Monday – Friday). Due to the need for regular 12-hour shifts, to meet the requirements of the hygiene sampling program, your roster will be negotiated to meet the needs of both yourself and the sampling program. You will be:

  • Assisting the Specialist Occupational Hygiene to achieve team goals;
  • Scheduling and conducting the hygiene sampling program;
  • Conducting sample preparation, analysis, dispatch and quality assurance;
  • Maintaining hygiene data and records;
  • Managing the communication of hygiene monitoring data in various formats as required, including feedback to individuals and teams;
  • Troubleshooting, maintenance and calibration of monitoring instrumentation;
  • Maintaining the onsite Occupational Hygiene Laboratory;
  • Assisting with preparation of, and participation in, various audits;
  • Assisting with exposure incident investigations, including coaching leaders to ensure effective corrective actions.
  • What you will bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Strong technical background and communication skills
  • A tertiary qualification in Occupational Hygiene, Science or similar
  • Experience in Occupational Hygiene monitoring - desirable
  • Industrial experience - desirable
  • Experience in database management and Microsoft Excel
  • AIOH Basic Principles Course - desirable
