The role
We are seeking a n Assistant Director, Government Affairs (EL1 Level) for an initial 12 month contract with options to extend.

With a flexible work policy, this challenging position will be based in Geelong.

This is an important team leadership position based in the Government Affairs Team works within the Government Relations Branch to ensure consistent engagement with the stakeholders by leading and coordinating the Agency's engagement with Disability Reform Ministers (DRM), Senior Disability Officials and the Department of Social Services. You will have responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide-ranging activities of substantial depth involving significant detail. You will provide the leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making.

Key accountabilities will include:
Building and maintaining strong relationships with Commonwealth, State and Territory governments
Preparing papers and reports for the ELT and the Board on actions arising from intergovernmental forums and CEO engagement with State and Territory Ministers and Senior Officials
Liaising with the Department of Social Services (DSS) to coordinate participation in and the delivery of papers and briefing material for various inter-governmental committees
Leading and mentoring team members, including ensuring appropriate quality assurance framework is established and operating effectively
Contributing to the broader Division work program through planning, coordination, reporting, and people management activities

Skills and experience:
Previous experience as a similar Project leadership role involving intergovernmental stakeholder engagement (State or Federal)
Demonstrated team leadership/management capabilities
Strong skills in project planning, reporting, and risk and issue management
Outstanding Executive level stakeholder engagement - this role will involve attendance at intra-government forums and involve working with the Agency Executive and Ministers
Experience with ministerial or government briefs and reports
Understanding of the NDIS and disability sector is advantageous
