    Council is seeking applications from positive minded and committed people to apply for the role of Waste Services Labourer to join our Bulk Waste team.

    The Waste Services Labourer – Bulk Waste, is a member of the Bulk Waste team and is responsible for the completion of all general labouring duties associated with the collection of bulk waste, utilising rear loading collection vehicles, and the eWaste and Mattress truck, from various locations around the City of Lake Macquarie.

    You will join our dynamic and supportive team who take pride in delivering exemplary services to our community.

    The position is responsible for determining whether waste placed for collection is compliant with Council’s requirements and to notify owners of non-compliant materials presented for collection.

    The goal of waste collections is to provide an efficient service with minimal impact upon the community.

    Conditions of Employment include:

  • Shift work / weekend work
  • On call work
  • Travel across multiple sites
  • Required to work overtime as requested

    Stand out from the crowd by:

  • Holding a current Class C Driver’s licence and current WorkCover General Induction Certificate
  • You enjoy each day being a challenge and being in a job which is physically demanding
  • Your knowledge of waste management services is evident from your previous experience within the job or one similar
  • Teamwork skills and ability to work as a team to reach a common goal is second to none
  • Previous experience in the operation of rear loading waste collection vehicles will be obvious

  • Salary $51,125 to $55,037 per annum plus 12% superannuation
  • Nine-day fortnight roster
  • Long service leave after only 5 years
