About Your Role
Our Darwin team provide repair, maintenance and in-service support for the fleet of Armidale Class Patrol Boats. We have multiple locations across Darwin to accommodate our growing diverse team of 95 employees. Our project office is based in the CBD which is in walking distance to public transport, restaurants, schools and offsite parking.

Under the functional guidance of the Waterfront Engineering Lead, the Naval Architect performs professional work in both the design and delivery of repairs and structural alterations to the Armidale Class Patrol Boats. Develop the skills and experience to satisfy the requirements for becoming a Design Authority Signatory (“Designer”) for Engineering tasks being responsible for the technical integrity of solutions and services performed.
Perform design tasks and analyses on structural changes to ship’s hull
Perform and support ship repair and maintenance activities
Plan operations and or processes required to complete allocated design tasks, including estimation of requirements of staffing, material costs and quantities
Independently or as a team member ensure that design products comply with the technical requirements of the task and are performed within the allocated cost, schedule and quality parameters
Liaison with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, as well imparting knowledge in the wider team
How About You?
Appropriate tertiary qualifications admitting to membership of a professional institution.
Knowledge and experience of Naval/Maritime ship systems including repair plans, repair specifications, and work instructions
Experience in the use or management of CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) and 3D Modelling software packages Auto CAD, Inventor, ANSYS
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
Knowledge of relevant Naval software tools, like AMPS, TRMS, and CMTU would be a distinct advantage
