We’re looking for a Technologist Systems & Specifications who will be responsible for the support of food and packaging formula and specifications for compliance in the Optiva product system, together with the maintenance of existing raw material specifications. This will also include the data entry of specifications, raw materials and packaging items into Optiva whilst also focusing on the maintenance of raw material specifications.

You will have a natural ability to work cross-functionally communicating with Product Development, Packaging Technologists, Regulatory affairs, Master Data and the Quality team as well as external suppliers defining raw materials physical, chemical and microbiological expectations (which will also support Tender and GEM projects) and ensure timely execution of key compliance and manufacturing food and packaging formulations, specifications and labelling materials .

Key accountabilities include:

  • Management of accurate packaging formula, specifications and die lines for compliance in the Optiva product system and commercial processes
  • Management of food formula and specifications for compliance in the Optiva product system according to change management requirements
  • Review and update all existing raw material specification per business agreed plans, ensuring accurate and compliant specification at all manufacturing sites
  • Contribution to Optiva system upgrade through required testing and validation activities

    • The ingredients to be successful:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Food Science or related discipline
  • At least 1-2 years relevant experience in the food industry, preferably within FMCG
  • Working experience or knowledge of ingredients, food manufacturing processes, packaging materials, formats and printing methods is desirable.
  • Understanding BoMs and BoM structures
  • Knowledge of database systems
  • Ability to work with numbers and large amounts of data
  • Attention to detail through review of documentation and significant data entry
  • Excellent organisation and time management, ability to independently prioritise workload
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to work in a fast paced environment
