The appointed candidate will provide services to an acute adult inpatient group of patients and community based clinics within a multidisciplinary team.

MHSUS is an integrated dual diagnosis inpatient and outpatient service with Mater Mental Health Centre. Our service provides specialist treatment to people of Hunter New England area with co-occurring mental illness and substance use. The inpatient unit manages acutely mentally ill patients with comorbid substance use disorders. Patients on the inpatient unit become involved in some of the community groups to assist with engagement and follow up planning. The community clinic has both centre-based individual case management and group treatment programs, to engage and motivate patients towards their recovery. By joining our service you will participate in one of Australia’s well established psychiatry training programs. 
Our dedicated staff work closely with general practitioners, drug and alcohol services, psychiatric hospitals, community managed organisations and other community services. There is a strong emphasis on creating management plans that consider the needs of the patient, family, carers and others involved in the care of the individual. 

Further details about our suitable candidate
You will have a medical degree registerable with the Medical Board of Australia
Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists 
Addiction Psychiatry Advanced Training preferable
Be able to demonstrate working experience with patients with complex mental health disorders
Be able to provide strong clinical leadership and have excellent communication skills
Have an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from all health-related disciplines
Look forward to developing strong local links with other health welfare providers 
Be engaged in multidisciplinary training and education 
Be committed to fulfilling the responsibilities as supervisor andor mentor for medical students and resident medical staff in accordance with RANZCP and training guidelines
