This newly created role is the perfect opportunity for a highly experienced and driven Vegetation specialist to join our progressive Natural Assets team. You will be responsible for monitoring and controlling developer constructed vegetation assets during the establishment period. You will ensure these vegetation assets are appropriately established prior to the asset being handed over to Council.
You will also manage the efficient and effective handover of vegetation assets to the Asset Management and Maintenance teams at the conclusion of the establishment period.

Your key focus areas are: Monitor, control & oversee the developer constructed vegetation assets to ensure appropriate establishment and complete final review at the end of the establishment period to determine Council acceptance prior to the asset being handed over to Council Liaise, negotiate and form strong working relationships with developers and their contractors to ensure a favourable outcome for Council vegetation assets as well as key internal stakeholders involved in overseeing construction and maintenance of vegetation assets Work with asset management and maintenance teams to calculate ongoing maintenance costs and request these funds through the formal budget request process prior to handover for both developer constructed and internally funded vegetation assets Manage the bond release process following the final inspection and in accordance with Council policies and procedures Proactively provide feedback on Councils Planning guidelines and advice in relation to proposed vegetation assets including bush fire management measures during the DA referral process to ensure continuous improvement in Council’s vegetation assets

LET'S DESCRIBE YOU
You come from a strong background in vegetation, park, bushland, trees and urban vegetation management. Your knowledge of regional flora species and ability to identify vegetation will see you in good stead for this technical role. You understand the importance of relationship building, and through your strong communication and negotiation skills, you will work collaboratively to bring people with you to deliver high quality sustainable outcomes for Council and our community.
Tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent experience in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Horticulture or Conservation and Land Management Demonstrated ability to build relationships and drive outcomes whilst working with external stakeholders Highly developed understanding and demonstrated knowledge of regional flora species and vegetation communities Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation and conflict resolution skills Sound knowledge of estimating methods and an ability to prepare maintenance budgets for a range of vegetation assets
