The Senior Product Engineer is a key member of the Information and Knowledge Products Team within the Innovation and Technology Solutions Branch. This role will work closely with key stakeholders from ITS and the Strategic Communications team to deliver technical support for core agency products including the website, collaboration tools and intranet.
The qualities and key functions of the Information and Knowledge Products Team are to deliver strategic solutions that support enhanced digital employee and customer experience. This includes the implementation of core collaboration, information management, web, and secure sharing products, services, advice, guidance and best practice support.

Under limited direction the Senior Product Engineer is responsible for:
  • Building and supporting quality, well-tested software and sites according to standards and best practice
  • Promoting and contributing to a culture that delivers quality digital products that support efficient business practices
  • work with colleagues and supplier team members to write tests, code and documentation for new and existing systems
  • support the rapid development of user-driven prototypes
  • actively contributing to engineering radar practices and other communities of practise
  • implementing code in alignment with relevant solution architecture
  • providing level 2nd and 3rd level technical product support and serves as escalation point for product support
  • participating in all agile processes and ceremonies, particularly with respect to technical practices
  • participating in the peer code review process
  • Ensure all delivery meetings non-functional requirements around security, performance, UX, accessibility, browser/device compatibility considerations.
  • Must have skills:
  • excellent programming skills and willing to learn different technologies
  • ability to write high-performance, reusable and testable code
  • familiar with Agile development methodologies

  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo a security assessment, maintain an ongoing security clearance and satisfy AUSTRAC’s pre-engagement checks.
    To be eligible for assessment, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
