It is imperative that Minter Ellison identify and manage risks across the firm, in accordance with our Risk Appetite Statement (‘RAS’) and utilising a framework to manage risk (Risk Management Framework “RMF”). The CRO team facilitates the management of risk at MinterEllison by:

  • Building deeper awareness and understanding of the risks facing the firm and the role each person needs to play in managing those risks through their everyday actions and personal accountabilities;
  • Supporting and enabling a controls environment that ensures accountability for managing risk is appropriately distributed across the firm and that risks are managed in accordance with the Firm's risk appetite; and
  • Supporting the easy navigation of barriers to successful execution of strategy and business initiatives.
  • This role would be responsible for Firm wide risk policy, framework and reporting. Emphasis would be forward looking with links to Firm strategy and the macro risk perspective. A significant output would be a continuous understanding of the Firm’s enterprise risk profile and how it may derail the execution of strategy. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person who is comfortable to in an ever changing environment, enjoys a challenge and with proven experience establishing a function from zero base.

    We are looking for someone who prides themselves in exceptional stakeholder management, presentation and leadership skills.

    Duties & Responsibilities

  • Preparation and maintenance of Firm’s Enterprise Risk Profile;
  • Preparation and maintenance of Firm’s Strategic Risk Profile;
  • Risk Policy and Framework Ownership;
  • Risk Appetite metrics and monitoring;
  • Monthly CRO reporting for ARC, Board and ELT;
  • Risk Analytics via leverage of existing Firm Data warehouses;
  • M & A / new venture risk; and
  • Ad hoc requests from Firm Leadership and CRO.

  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating, building and innovation in maintaining Enterprise Risk Profile;
  • Innovative perspective in use of Risk Analytics; and
  • Postgraduate/Masters degrees or other qualifications to perform the role at a fully competent level, plus 10 years of business related experience
