The Chief Executive Officers of the Department of Education, Catholic Education Western Australia and the Association of Independent Schools of Western Australia have recently formed the Cross Sectoral Working Group for Student Mental Health and Wellbeing.
This working group is made up of experienced school leaders from all three sectors and other key stakeholders and experts in the areas of mental health and wellbeing. The purpose of the working group is to:
The Cross Sectoral Working Group for Student Mental Health and Wellbeing is chaired by the Chief Psychologist of the Department of Education.
The Working Group is seeking an experienced and results-driven Level 7 public servant, who will be based at the Department’s Statewide Services Centre, to drive both the strategic and operational aspects of the group’s work. This position also acts as the Executive Officer when the group meets.
The position will require an understanding of contemporary mental health and wellbeing issues being experienced by Western Australian young people, including Aboriginal young people, and an ability to bring collective experience together to develop network, policy, program, and professional learning solutions to the issues identified.
The successful applicant will facilitate a five-year cross sectoral plan for student mental health and wellbeing and be responsible for coordinating the strategies identified by the plan for implementation and monitoring.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
