About the role:

Our client, a Statutory Authority, requires an experienced Communications Advisor with a focus on internal communications for a 4 week contract assignment with an immediate start. As the Communications Adviser, you provide strategic communications support to promote key organisational change initiatives and manage issues. You will develop a range of material aimed at a diverse audience, as well as plan and coordinate the roll-out of communications programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Manage the development and execution of plans to effectively communicate information to internal staff and volunteer workforce
  • Develop, edit and review content, as well as manage the approval process, for a variety of communication channels including print, online and face-to-face, often translating technical content into simple language for a variety of audiences
  • Develop strategies and plans for priority initiatives and projects to communicate them to staff and volunteers, working closely with the campaigns team
  • Initiate creative solutions to meet communication needs
  • Identify emerging risks and apply an issues management focus to communications advice
  • Identify the organisation and member achievements, activities and initiatives that can be communicated internally and externally
  • Update and drive implementation of the internal communications calendar
  • Experience and Skills

    The experience and skills you will need to demonstrate include:

  • Proven ability to develop and deliver high quality internal communications strategies
  • Excellent relationship building skills as a key liaison with senior leaders, including the Board
  • Experience in either change management or issues management communications role with large or complex organisations
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
  • Ability to create engaging and relevant content for a variety of audiences, often translating the technical into the simple
  • Experience in the use of social and digital media preferred
  • Exceptional time management, organisational and problem solving skills.
  • A self-motivated team player with a can do, proactive attitude
  • Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant field e.g. Communications, Public Relations or extensive experience as an internal communications specialist preferably within the government sector
  • A current car licence will be required
