The Role

Reporting to the General Manager – Electricity and Gas, the Business Development Managers primary purpose is to establish, develop and maintain relationships with target clients and identify, develop and secure sustainable, profitable leveraged and new growth opportunities in line with the business strategy.

What you’ll be doing
  • Maintain Salesforce contacts, opportunities and accounts
  • Build and maintain an active list of qualified prospective new clients or opportunities
  • Accountable for the ownership of the pipeline of power opportunities in target markets
  • Informs, participates in, and contributes to Ventia strategy development
  • Attends/participates in networking opportunities and is involved in Industry bodies and Associations
  • Identifies and pursues opportunities to improve work processes and practices.
  • Seeks to engage other internal and external stakeholders to deliver ‘targeted’ business development.
  • Manages business development of new clients / projects and critical commercial negotiations
  • Work collaboratively with the Ventia Marketing group to positively portray Ventia to our targeted clients
  • Develop client solutions to meet their needs and triggers
  • Shape, influence and implement enterprise-wide strategic decisions and agenda around customer centricity, safety, sustainability, diversity, innovation, digital enablement and business improvement
  • Champion Ventia’s enterprise values of “Integrity”, “Collaboration”, “Challenge”, and “Ingenuity” when practicing leadership

  • About You

  • You will have a degree in Engineering, Marketing or similar
  • Extensive experience as a Business Development Manager, ideally with a strong working knowledge within the Electricity and Gas industry
  • High technical competency in Salesforce and Microsoft applications
  • Have a strategic mindset and strong level of stakeholder engagement skills
  • Exceptional client management, entrepreneurial and negotiation skills along with a keen interest, enthusiasm and drive for win-win outcomes.
