The Clinical Nurse - Perioperative Services provides clinical expertise, support and education to nursing staff within the unit to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care.
The Ayr Health Service is a -bed facility located in the township of Ayr, in North Queensland. The facility offers general medical, surgical and obstetric services to Ayr, Home Hill and the broader Burdekin Shire.

Role requirements Mandatory: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position. Highly Desirable: Postgraduate qualifications relevant to the position or working towards a relevant qualification. Adult Life Support Certificate: Must be able to obtain and then maintain an annual competency in Advanced Life Support as per Townsville Hospital and Health Service policy Life Support Training and Assessment -THSDCLIv ( (PDF) ( )) All nursing employees of the Ayr Health Service may be required to work in other areas of the Service. On Call: Appointees will be required to participate in an on-call roster. Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty. The applicant ideally will have a working knowledge of a range of software packages used in the clinical and management environment, including the Microsoft Windows, Excel and Power Point.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following: Proven ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at an advanced level within a complex environment. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with team members, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks to achieve work unit outcomes. Ability to provide nursing leadership in the clinical and professional setting including the role modelling of effective communication and problem solving. Proven ability to use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position in order to achieve outcomes and identify areas for improvement. Proven ability to provide clinical education and support at an advanced level and demonstrate own professional development.
