This role is responsible for contributing to the business growth objectives of Insurance Services by supporting the team and the Risk Services field team with technical assistance and advice. This position is also responsible for obtaining insurance quotes and processing and assisting with placements as required.
Portfolio management Manage a portfolio of retails and wholesale insurance risks, with a particular emphasis on profitable growth and providing professional standards and consistency of advice. Respond to enquiries and requests for action from stakeholders in a timely manner. Provide personal advice for clients and Members in all matters affecting their general insurance needs. Present recommendations and support to the Risk Account Managers (RAMs) to provide the best options for Members and clients. Action requests from RAMs to implement general insurance policies. Keep RAMs, Members and clients fully briefed throughout the year on market trends and how they may be affected.
Policy renewal Liaise with RAMs, Members, or clients to gather underwriting information for the purposes of negotiating, amending, lapsing and/or cancelling existing insurance arrangements with insurance companies. Negotiate insurance terms with underwriters. Obtain renewal and payment instructions from RAMs, Members, or clients to finalise existing arrangements. Prepare renewal documents and ensure finalisation of new policies within timeframes and attach applicable specifications to the proposal to form part of the document. Ensure policy renewal documents, invoices and collection of premiums are actioned in accordance with agreed objectives.
Claims Act on behalf of the RAMs, Members, or clients in the settlement of claims. Ensure timely and, wherever possible, favourable settlement of claims. Report on claims to team and management as required.
Business development Contribute to business retention activities. Contribute to new business activities including: implementing sales plans by targeting prospective clients; attending to enquiries from potential prospects; conducting client visits and telephone prospecting; and work with the marketing team and management to develop key promotional materials. Provide broker support, mentoring and training. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams and other external stakeholders, including within the insurance market. Understand and comply with all Capricorn standards as they relate to work health and safety. Adhere to all departmental policies and procedures, as well as all Capricorn corporate policies and procedures as amended from time to time. Demonstrate a strong commitment to Capricorn's values and ethos. Perform other duties/projects that may be requested from time to time
Knowledge and skills Excellent communication, including verbal, written and negotiation skills. Strong analytical skills, including the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy. Ability to manage numerous tasks within set timeframes to meet deadlines. Ability to show initiative and work with minimum supervision. Skilled in the use of MS Office, including Excel. High level of service orientation.
Experience Previous experience in commercial broking, preferably with SMEs. Experience with iBais (desirable).
Qualifications Tier 1 RG146 qualification (essential).
