ME Medical Recruitment –  Director of Medical Services - Permanent Queensland Coast Location


We are currently recruiting for a Executive Director of Medical Services within Regional Queensland

This role is 6 hours driving from Brisbane.  

The EDMS reports to the Health Service Chief Executive (HSCE) on strategic and professional issues impacting the financial, physical and human resource management of HHS medical services, in collaboration with the Executive Directors of each business unit.

The position operationally manages 43 FTE within the Medical Academic Centre, Medical Workforce Support Unit, Public Health Unit, Service Transformation and Project Management Offices.

The EDMS will, as necessary, deputise for the HSCE.

Requirements

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the best fit for the role. Within the context of the responsibilities described under ‘The role’, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

• Executive-level experience and capacity in strategically leading a large and diverse medical workforce in a rural setting.

• Proven capacity to successfully develop and foster strong and enduring professional internal and external partnerships, relationships and networks.

• High level of clinical knowledge, proficiency and skills extending across the broad range of medical practice relevant to a medium sized regional hospital.

• Demonstrable experience as a change leader in enterprise-wide transformation with collective effort and distributed accountability across the organisation.

• Comprehensive understanding of safety management systems within a large service organisation, and proven ability in the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of strategies designed to advance quality, safety, governance and risk in health service delivery.

• Extensive knowledge and experience in workforce policy and processes for improving clinical practice standards and commitment to quality improvement in a health care environment.

Mandatory Qualifications/ Professional Registration/ Other Requirements

• An MBBS or equivalent to enable registration with the Medical Board of Australia, Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) is mandatory.

• Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (FRACMA) is also mandatory for this role.

• Current ALS certification and enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program with the appropriate bodies is mandatory.

• The successful candidate will be required to participate in the Senior Medical/ DMS on call roster.

• The appointee will be required to undergo a credentialing process and will be granted appropriate scope of clinical practice. There is a system of review and renewal of credentials and Scope of Clinical Practice for Specialists and Non-specialist Senior Medical Officers on staff. This is reviewed on a five-yearly basis.

• Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and if applicable registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.

• This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
