We are currently seeking a Mine Geologist to join our highly engaged and dynamic team within our Leonora Operations in Western Australia.
Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you will actively contribute to the effective gathering, coordination and communication of geological data for the mine planning and ore extraction at the Gwalia mine.
This opportunity is a permanent, FIFO role on a balanced 8 days on, 6 days off, roster cycle, flying on company time to and from Perth. You also have the option to DIDO from Kalgoorlie.
The opportunity Perform daily production reporting tasks ensuring accurate and timely delivery to all key stakeholders. Perform daily stope inspections where appropriate. Deliver optimum tonnage and grade estimation in daily production reporting and minimise waste dilution by doing daily ROM inspections. Perform critical daily review of Geology Head Grade with reference to Mill Recovered Data, Grab and Batch Sample data distributions and daily geological inspections of the ROMs and Underground. Perform accurate and detailed geological and structural, underground mapping (ore and waste headings) and underground sampling. Perform accurate and detailed geological and structural core logging. Accept responsibility for any drill hole logged and carry out QAQC validation of the drill hole before incorporation into Datashed. Assist the Senior Geologist and Project Geologist, where requested, in the design and coordination of diamond drilling activities. Assist the Underground Geology Superintendent and Senior Mine Geologist with the management of the drilling contractor on site. Assist the Underground Geology Superintendent and Senior Mine Geologist with the management of the ROM to ROM haulage contractor on site. Contribute to the SBM Reconciliation systems and obtain an understanding of the reconciliation process by actively doing EOM Reconciliations and Stope Reconciliations.

What we will expect from you You should feel a strong alignment with St Barbara’s values as you will be required to live them. You are able to produce a National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months) for site access purposes. You have a current unencumbered West Australian ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence. You are degree qualified in Geology / Geological Science discipline. Relevant industry work experience. Experience in working with different types and styles of deposits. Ability to work effectively within a team. Strong communication skills, ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks and a high level of enthusiasm for the work with hand performance goals.
