VicRoads is progressing too. In August 2022, we started on a new chapter when the Victorian State Government partnered with Aware Super, Australian Retirement Trust, and Macquarie Asset Management to operate registration and licensing services on its behalf.

We work collaboratively with the Victorian State Government to ensure we fulfill regulatory requirements, deliver State projects and safeguard customer data. The Victorian State Government retains sole responsibility for road access, infrastructure and safety.

As a Technology Graduate, you will help modernise the platforms that power registration and licensing and use data to improve customer experiences.

About the Opportunity – Mainframe & Enterprise

This stream gives you a dynamic, hands-on start across our core technology areas. You'll begin in Mainframe and Enterprise, working across modern and legacy platforms while helping keep critical systems running through incident support, batch processing and performance monitoring. 

Next, you'll move into Service Assurance and Enablement, supporting staff with real tech issues, preparing devices, assisting with service desk reporting and learning how strong service keeps the organisation moving. 

Your third rotation is in Software Engineering, where you'll help build and improve the digital products Victorians rely on, gaining practical coding experience, learning Agile delivery and contributing to modern applications. 

Your fourth rotation will be determined once you commence the program.

Together, these rotations give you a well‑rounded, energetic start to a career in technology, operations and digital delivery. 

About you 

We're looking for tech‑curious graduates who are eager to learn, solve real problems, and make an impact from day one.

To be successful in this stream you must:

• Be in your final semester of study or recently completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree within the past 12 months in the following discipline: IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering or Data

• Entry‑level understanding of ITIL concepts and how IT support processes work​

• Fundamental knowledge of Microsoft technologies such as Windows, Azure or SQL​

• Basic understanding of cloud services in AWS or Azure​

• Ability to write simple scripts (PowerShell, batch) to automate repetitive tasks​

• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including how applications communicate (TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, ports)

Standard eligibility:

• Applicants should be in their last year (final semester) of study; or recently completed a relevant Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree within the past 12 months.

• Applicants must be able to commence employment from July 2026

• Applicants must hold full-time working rights in Australia at the time of commencing. We are unable to consider candidates who require visa sponsorships.
