    Our client is a small but mighty Victorian independent retailer with strong national growth ambitions. Established over 10 years ago, they have developed a strong employee and customer brand within their specific retail space.

    This organisation has an exceptional collaborative culture, both from an employee and supplier perspective, and also well loved by their passionate customer base.

    They have more than doubled in size over the last four years and due to this and the continued focus on expansion, they are seeking an experienced Buyer to join their head office team based in Melbourne.



    About the role

    In this newly created role, Senior Buyer, you will report directly to the Founder/Brand Manager and have a Buyer reporting into you.

    In this role, you will be responsible for creating and executing merchandise strategies utilizing a category management framework to achieve set sales, profit, and margin targets.

    Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and the store network, you will implement and trade the merchandising plan, adjusting as necessary to capitalize on sales and margin opportunities.

    Your focus will be on driving revenue through various avenues including new product development opportunities, brand management, pricing and promotional strategies, cross-selling, innovation, and initiatives to acquire new customers.

    Additionally, you will engage collaboratively with suppliers, negotiating optimal trading terms for the business and valued customers. Staying ahead of industry trends, innovations, and advancements within the pet industry will be integral to your success.


    About the candidate

    The ideal candidate will have a track record of success in crafting and executing strategic category and merchandising plans aimed at driving sales, margin, and profit.

    They should demonstrate adeptness in effectively managing the category plan, making necessary adjustments, and leading cross functional teams.

    A hands-on approach, coupled with a strategic mindset, is essential, demonstrating a willingness to delve into details while keeping sight of the bigger picture.
