    Job Summary

    The Risk & Compliance Officer plays a critical role in the administration and support of our enterprise risk, compliance, and assurance activities. This position involves ongoing review and monitoring of our risk and compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures, working closely with staff across all levels to identify, analyze, evaluate, treat, and monitor key material and compliance risks.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Compliance Review: Perform regular reviews to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
    • Risk and Controls Testing: Conduct thorough testing to identify and mitigate potential risks.
    • Monthly Credit Quality Reviews: Analyze and report on credit quality metrics.
    • AML/CTF/KYC Compliance Reviews: Monitor and enforce Anti-Money Laundering, Counter-Terrorism Financing, and Know-Your-Customer regulations.
    • Incident and Breach Investigations: Investigate and report on incidents and breaches.
    • Compliance Reporting: Provide regular reports to regulators on compliance matters.
    • Management Reporting: Prepare and present monthly Enterprise Risk reports to Management Committees, Executive Committees, and the Board.
    • Policy Development: Develop and update Enterprise Risk policies, procedures, plans, frameworks, and risk appetite statements.
    • Training and Communication: Deliver training sessions, update intranet news and forums, and provide face-to-face training and webinars.
    • GRC System Maintenance: Regularly update risk registers, metrics, and records in the GRC system.
    • Ad Hoc Projects: Participate in various projects, including testing and implementing new processes, controls, and systems.

    Requirements

    • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of regulatory compliance in financial services and licence obligations in Australia (e.g. ASIC, APRA, AML, CTF, Privacy Act, NCCP).
    • Policy Development: Ability to develop policies, procedures, plans, frameworks.
    • Risk Management: Excellent risk management and reporting skills.
    • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, investigative, and critical thinking skills.
    • Communication Skills: Clear, concise written and oral communication skills.
    • Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other systems (Promapp). Competent in using and maintaining GRC system.

    Education & Qualifications

    • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline or equivalent.

    Work Experience

    • Minimum 3 years in a risk management and compliance, audit, quality assurance within financial services or similar roles, preferably in a mutual bank.
